Mid-Level Geologist
Westshore is seeking a mid-level Geologist to assist with a variety of projects including environmental site investigations and remediation, environmental due diligence, and project management. Our environmental group’s goal is to help clients reduce their impact on the environment, achieve compliance, and reduce risks while working in a relaxed, collaborative atmosphere.
The successful candidate will assist in gathering and analyzing geological, hydrogeological, and geochemical data in a variety of settings and writing reports documenting the work. Field activities will consist of soil, groundwater, air, and soil vapor sample collection; geological logging and interpretation; and oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies. Office work will include data analysis, report writing and interaction with staff, clients, potential clients, and government regulators. Field versus office work will likely be roughly 40 percent versus 60 percent over time.
Responsibilities of the position include:
- Preparing work proposals and implementing project budgets
- Sampling various media including soil, groundwater, air, and soil gas
- Installing groundwater monitoring wells and vapor monitoring points
- Overseeing subcontractors performing various tasks
- Data reduction, review, and interpretation
- Writing and reviewing letters, reports, and proposals
- Preparation and review of due diligence reports
- Conducting marketing activities
Minimum requirements of the role:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or similar degree
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Familiarity with Part 213 and Part 201 of Michigan’s PA 451
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Experience working individually and collaboratively
- Experience conducting fieldwork in challenging weather conditions
- Valid Driver’s License in good standing
- Comfortable identifying and attracting potential clients
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and annual updates.
